Hugger Mugger Sattva Jute Yoga Mat

Strong, Stable, Light & Natural

In Sanskrit, Sattva mean Pure. This mat will bring pure enjoyment to whoever chooses to practice on it!  The Hugger Mugger Sattva measures 68" x 24" x .4" and weighs in at a light 2.65 pounds.  It's constructed of natural jute on the top side and non-toxic, non-slip PER on the base.  Jute is a natural fiber that grows mainly in India, Bangladesh and China and takes only a few months to mature, making it a nice substitute to wood, rubber or other synthetic materials.

Jute is a naturally durable fiber with high tensile strength, giving this mat a nice balance between durability and comfort.  The PER base (Polymer Environmental Resin) grips firmly to any surface to prevent slipping. This mat does have a break in period. Some find it scratchy and even itchy until the fibers on the top layer have softened and relaxed with use.

Some people complain that this mat is slightly slippery but I'd expect that problem to curtail with use.  It's slightly shorter than a standard yoga mat but unless you are over 6 foot tall that also shouldn't be an issue. It's a little thin, so you may feel the need to use a towel or blanket under the knees in some poses.  These are all small prices to pay when considering the toxic chemicals you'll be avoiding with this mat.

Cleaning this mat is fairly straight forward.  Just wipe it with a damp cloth after use.  Make sure to unroll it to dry as it is susceptible to mold if it is rolled away and stored when wet. Overall this mat is a real winner for the yogi who is looking for something natural, something different and something beautiful to practice on.

Pros:  Breathable, Natural, Durable, Light and Absorbant

Cons:  Has a break in period, May be a bit itchy/scratchy until it's broken in.
